Native to the US, Sourwood Honey comes from the nectar of the Sourwood Tree, which grows throughout the Carolinas and Tennessee and is once of the three most famous kinds of honey in America. This sought-after variety is prized by connoisseurs and is known for its light amber appearance and its ability to resist crystallization. Its flavor profile contains notes of anise spice and maple, accompanied by a sweet aroma and enjoyable astringency at the finish.

“ I m someone who normally takes 'tasting notes' with a grain of salt because I can never actually taste the flavors, especially in wine, but in this honey? I was blown away. The description says maple and star anise and that is exactly how I would describe the taste. It goes well with my black and oolong teas as long as they aren t fruity flavored. I ve also been having it on its own because it s just that good. It s not as thick as you would typically expect from honey, but that s okay because flavor is bolder than regular honey, too. I m excited to try the others, now. ”

“ This honey is excellent when added to many of your fall, spicy, and chai teas. This also pairs well with maple, caramel, licorice, cardamom, cinnamon, clove, and star anise flavors in tea. This is a very flavorful honey even tasting it alone. I enjoy trying all your different honeys on different teas as I like a variety of flavor profiles. They add natural sweetness without changing the natural flavor. ”
Honey has long been a source for sweetening a variety of foods and beverages for over 10,000 years. The sweet nectar has also been used for medicinal purposes, served as currency, and been a symbol in many religious and cultural celebrations. Each offers the promise of making your cup of tea just a little bit sweeter.
