Our 10 year old grandson was not feeling well with congestion and sore throat. I fixed him some Lemongrass Ginger with raw honey and wondered if he would drink it. To my surprise when it cooled, he sipped on it and had 2 more cooled glasses the rest of the day. He said it made him feel better! We sell quite a bit of this tea at our markets.

All players were present in my CommuniTEA packet this morning ... yay! Lemongrass and licorice aromas were strong ... they were ready to empart their flavors! Pretty red safflower and blue cornflower threads were dancing around and getting ready to give up their colors. When hot, I was greeted with a strange cloudy light-green/yellow colored liquid. Strong lemongrass, licorice, and ginger tastes were noted. These strong flavors continued all the way to finish. Mild peppermint flavors provided a pleasant cooling aftertaste. This was adventure for my taste buds this morning! The honey I added melded all these flavors together and helped to tone things down, making this a very captivating morning sip. (8 mins @ 212ºF, 1/2 tsp honey)

Perfect blend ratio of flavors resulting in a very good cup of tea. I prefer the cooled down version which tends to bring out some of the peppermint flavor. I bet this would be good iced too!

UPDATED from 10/7/20: What interesting ingredients in this blend besides lemongrass and ginger, and each of them make this a phenomenal tasting tea. Perfect to drink when not feeling well. When hot the ginger really tastes strong, however all the flavors work very well together. The peppermint is such a refreshing flavor that lingers with the ginger/licorice/lemon combination. This tea has a clean, fresh aftertaste, and adding honey makes everything even better. It tastes good as an ice tea, too. This is such a delicious tea to drink - and good to have on hand when feeling under the weather. (10 mins @212ºF).

Ingredients & Lore

blended with lemon grass, ginger, ginger, licorice, peppermint leaves, blue cornflowers & safflower

Lemongrass and ginger are two popular flavors in Asian cuisine. In Thai cuisine, lemongrass reigns supreme as a flavor favorite in curries, soups, noodle dishes and more. In India and other parts of Asia, ginger reigns as the king ingredient in anything from curries to teas and coffees, side dishes and more. While both plants pack a flavorful punch, lemongrass trends more towards zest and citrusy brightness while ginger brings the peppery heat. Both are lauded for their health benefits as well. Cold and flu season beware!
