Though often used fresh and added at the end of a preparation or as garnish, dried basil should be added at the start of cooking and is prized for its convenience. Dried basil can be found in spice blends such as Italian Seasoning or sometimes in Herbes de Provence. Its flavor is more concentrated than fresh basil and it should also be noted that the drying process alters the flavor slightly, leaning more into its minty notes.
